Sure, take all the time you need! (people are not exactly lining up out to give yaped32 a try ;-))
ubik : I just played a little with your great YAPED32.
But I think I don't understand the right use of the color.
I select a color (in this case blue) and press RETURN:
But drawing it with SPACE the color of the point stays GREY:
Do I have to set the point with SPACE and then colorize it with SHIFT+SPACE for every single point?
Hey!! *Finally* someone trying my stuff!
Yep, in block mode, "plot" and "colourize" are decoupled (so that you don't accidentally mess up your picture because colour is always set for a 2x2 block)... but that could be easily changed...
(also note you can use the mouse to draw, which is much more fun ;))

Thanks for the fast answer! So I at least know that it is not a problem with my understanding of the use.
I find it a litte bit "complicated" to need two key press for setting one colored point. But there is no need to change your program for that.
Sadly I can not connect a mouse to my Nexys board (I have no widget board). So it's the real hard way style with cursor keys and SPACE key as in the "old days".

Just an idea for a next version of YAPED32:
With another keypress besides SPACE, maybe "C", a point is set with the current selected color.
Of course at own risk of destroying the neighbour colors.

good idea! it's on the todo list for the next version
Now can we please see some petscii art? 🙂
hey
ubik please upload this nice tool and all your other stuff to files.mega65.org
oops I just saw you already did. Thank you
cheers

My first try with YAPED32. All handmade with countless of cursor and SPACE keystrokes.
It's nearly the same feeling as typing thousand of hexcodes from a magazine listing "these old days". It was a great fun drawing it!
YAPED32 is a great piece of software. It only crashed once and it was a good idea to save the drawing nearly every 5 minutes. Like I say: Everything like as in the these old days.
I have attached the zipped Y32 file.

Love it! Thank you!
Would you give me permission to use it on the next yaped32 disc image?
P.S.:Attached is a little BASIC10 program that shows how to use Y32 files in your own programs, also part of the next d81 version...
Would you give me permission to use it on the next yaped32 disc image?
Thanks! Of course, feel free to use the picture if you want.
It was a great pleasure to draw it. This is one of the things I like about the MEGA65: It was a great "back to the roots" feeling drawing a simple picture with "bare hands"! Thanks for your YAPED32!
I'll test your loadpic program as soon as possible.
Announcing version 0.6.2 of YAPED32, world's most obscure 32-colour PETSCII editor for the MEGA65.
https://files.mega65.org/?id=9…0f-442c-a213-412a4a930f46
New features:
- low-res block editor now plots & colourizes in one go (thanks, Snoopy )
- new "megalogo.y32" demo picture (thanks again, Snoopy )
- includes sample code "loadpic.prg" showing how to use y32 pictures in your own programs
Old features:
- world's first MEGA65 native PETSCII editor supporting 32 colours
- mouse support
- nice palette tool for redefining colours and easy creation of gradients
- 9 independent workspaces
- rectangular selection and copy tool
- 5 extra screen rows for help, status information & palettes
- 3 modes of operation: drawing mode / typing mode / low-res Block Mode
P.S.: I'm really delighted that Yaped32 has such a loyal and creative user base (thanks Snoopy ;)) but of course it doesn't have to stop there. So, <brokenRecordMode>Feedback would be hugely appreciated. And some MEGA65+YAPED32 originated PETSCII art would also be very very nice. And if you decide not to use Y32, feel free to write me what's missing and/or what should be changed and/or improved.</brokenRecordMode>
