It’s the big 250 and we have a cracking issue lined up for you. Our big focus is on Rare, and in addition to an incredible cover by Wil Overton, we’ve spoken to Rare veterans past and present for the definitive piece on the acclaimed studio. Our 26-page article covers every aspect of the developer, from its early days as Ultimate, its amazing success on the N64 and its current 21-year tenure under Microsoft. The Rare celebrations continue with a 32-page book that covers the studio’s output: from Jetpac to Sea Of Thieves. This is an essential treat for any Rare fan.
But that’s not all. We’ve gone all out for this special issue with some truly landmark games. Obbe Vermeij explains how an expansion pack for GTA III turned into Vice City, the creator of The NewZealand Story reveals how it also started life as a completely different project, while Jonathan Beard and Jonathan Dunn look back at creating Jurassic Park for the SNES.
We’ve also chatted to the developers of Castle Of Shikigami 1 & 2 about the cult series and spoke to Jon Hare about the evolution of Sensible Soccer. Other highlights of issue 250 include a look at Gran Turismo, arguably one of the PlayStation’s most important racers and a chat with Steve Wetherill about creating the Amstrad version of Jet Set Willy.
The classics keep on coming! We’ve also found time to look at HERO, Quake, Dead Space, Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, F-Zero GX, Colin McRae Rally 2.0, Parapper The Rapper 2, Blaze Entertainment's new Super Pocket handhelds, the latest version of Anstream, the latest Evercade carts and much more. This is one issue you won’t want to miss!
