Hey guys! I've been a lurker around here for years but wanted to post about a project that I've been working on for four years now called C64 Dreams. I just released v0.45 and in conjunction with that I made a video that provides an overview of what the project is all about, how it works, and so on and thought you guys might want to check it out.

To briefly summarize, C64 Dreams is a 100% hand-curated collection of C64 games (3000 as of v0.45), SID music, demoscene, diskmags, and magazines. It's designed to make the experience of playing these games as simple as possible with zero setup required and a number of unique quality of life / ease of use features including:
-Proper joystick port assignment for every game
-Proper TrueDrive assignment for every game
-Per-game border cropping (cropped where unused, shown where it is)
-Smart controls that leverage modern controls for a suite of common use functions, and in some cases custom mapping that enables controller support for games that are ordinarily keyboard-only
-Easy disk swapping via either controller or keyboard
-Manuals that are toggleable/navigable in-game via controller or keyboard
-Custom per-game notes that are toggleable in-game where there's some non-intuitive mechanic or control that I think people might otherwise find confusing
-Extra goodies like custom SID music that's piped into some games that ordinarily have none (primarily text adventures) and Zzap!64 review integration where you can right-click on games in the library and, if they have a Zzap review, you can jump directly to that review either on the web or in a local copy of the magazine if you have the magazine module installed
Every single game is tested. Every single game is setup as needed to work the way it should. The goal being to make this something that is accessible and usable by anyone, even someone who has literally zero familiarity with the C64 whatsoever.
My end goal is to parse through 100% of the GB64 library for the curation process. I'm currently 43% complete so still a ways to go at this point but four years in I'm still going strong Bitte melde dich an, um dieses Bild zu sehen.
If you're interested, I'd really recommend checking out the video as I go into more detail there. If anybody has any questions, feedback, whatever... I'd love to hear it!
