if you don't like the battery on board, design an adapter for a battery type/size you prefer more, document it and post it here. I might be interested

I'm still in search for the suitable adapter ... :D

he he :) But actually, I have the adapter for that here. Its called a power cord (we are on the same grid as that big battery, and drive more or less past it on the way to our spot here in the Outback ;). That battery is actually being really helpful for us, reducing power prices already, because it stopped the little gas generators holding everyone to ransom and purposely driving electricity prices up.

That big battery looks almost as big as the one in the MEGAphone ;)

But back to the CR1220: They should last about 2.5 years between changes, as the RTC needs only 1.6 micro Amps.

CR1220 is rated to 35mAh = 35000 microAh = ~21,875 hours battery life = ~2.5 years expected time between changing batteries.

Putting a spot for a 2032 on the PCB would actually cause some routing problems, and we don't want to hold the machine up any more on things that are not vital. There is nothing stopping folks from making the installation of a bigger battery holder their first hardware hack on the MEGA65, but the time to do so would exceed that of changing the battery 10 times, I suspect. Same goes for fitting a Mr.Fusion.

But more importantly, the battery only goes flat when the MEGA65 is not being used, so there is a much simpler solution to making your battery last longer ;)
