Hi DeSegi ,
lange nichts gehört ! Freut mich ! Melde dich mal bei mir, wenn es etwas ruhiger wird ... (ca. 6-8 Wochen) !
Und, was hältst du von den Prototypen bisher ? ![]()
Viele Grüße,
Anton

We've just received an update from our case manufacturer Bitte melde dich an, um diesen Link zu sehen..
Paul already wrote a post with the latest information, but hop over and have a look yourself.
I am totally blown away, to see a real MEGA65 case beeing produced.
To be honest, until the MEGA65 project i didn't know, how much work it is from a dream to a real case !!!
So without any more jabber from my side:

Hi Snoopy !
Well spotted, this is indeed the microSD port.
What you see there above the slot is a "guiding nose" so that, when inserting a microSD card not straight, it will not just vanish inside the MEGA65, but be guided into the microSD slot.
(You can see the guiding nose better in the second picture to the far left)
This is also one of the small extra details, we've we paid attention to, when finalizing the MEGA65 case design.
PS: Yes ! we had to open our preseries MEGA65 cases several times, because this happened to us several times ![]()
Will the cut-in "covers" for the external slots also be stamped in the final moulds and you can remove them at your own will?
For the additional ports (Userport, Tapeport, DIN and mini DIN) YES.
(in the first picture the 4 most right ports)
They will appear in the final case as breakout ports.(If you don't need 'em, you don't need to break them out.)
The standard ports for the MEGA65 pcb will be in already of course, since they are needed for the MEGA65 pcb ![]()
MEGA65 final case design SLA sneak peak !!!
Before Hintsteiner started to create the injection moulds, they’ve sent us one SLA manufactured prototype case, made after the final MEGA65 case design.
- The plastic used is quite transparent and not as durable as the final case.
- Not all details were used in the production of this SLA case, i.e. the names on the inside are missing.
But it was perfect enough, to recheck the fitting of keyboard, floppy drive, mainboard, trapdoor, etc.
So have a look how the case will look like:
In the first picture you can see in the front a MEGA65 pre-series case and behind it, the SLA case in comparison. You can see all the additional screw bosses to provide the possibility for future addon cards, ports, loudspeakers, etc.

In the next picture you’ll have a closer look at the breakout ports, with an example, how a tape port is screwed in. (btw. before you ask: No C64 boards were harmed in the process of making the MEGA65
The C64 parts used here were taken from a broken 250469 PCB. All chips were already removed or were destroyed and traces were ripped, etc... ...broken!)

And here from the outside:

We hope, you like the look of the case !
And as usual....Stay tuned !!!
