Is this a know bug or an error in my end? And should I updated to 0.51a? So far no other issues.

    1) Works as designed: You can change this in SD:/C64/sidekick64.cfg. There is a new setting called

USE_FAVORITES_FOR_MAINSCREEN since 0.49. If this parameter is not set to zero, the files in folder SD:/FAVORITES are being displayed. If that folder is empty, nothing is displayed.

    2) Yes, you should update to 0.51a which - if you were on 0.51 before - simply means to take the file SD:/C64/launch.cbm80 from the latest Zip and copy it to your SD card into folder C64 and overwrite the old one.

Aha. I have seen the USE_FAVORITES_FOR_MAINSCREEN feature but did not know that the sceen would be empty if there was nothing in the favorites folder. And there is no files there.

Thank you! And will update to 0.51a

Sorry if this has been answered before. I am running my SK64 on a C128 with a Pi3B+.

With the new 0.51 release (downloaded before 1. sept.) I get this menu :?:

I am using "sidekick64_rpi0_c128.txt" but besides that nothing special. In "sidekick64.cfg" I am running with the stock file. No shortcuts atm. Only added a line in the end for network support (I am a beta-tester).

Sorry in advance for this being in English but my German is too rusty .... :)

no problem, feel free to post/ask questions in English (just moved your post to this topic).

I think I've never run Geos128 (only tested some other programs using GeoRAM). Maybe emulaThor did? (or was that C64?)

I don't have my C128 set up right now, but if you'd have a step-by-step explanation (.d81, SD2IEC or Pi1541?, ...) for someone like me then I could give it a try next week or the week after.

    Ok. Thank you :)

What other programs did you use to test GeoRAM? I think I will start by testing if that works. Then take it from there.

I am running my SK64 on a C128 and I am trying to enable GEORAM/get GEOS128 to recognize it. More precisely this version that should support GEORAM.

When I enable GEORAM with F1 and the settings as seen below GEOS does not see the GEORAM. Have I enabled it correctly?

Some RPi SoC (or external factors) behave a bit different than others, have you tried the slight overclocking (sidekick64.txt) for the C128?

Yes, I have it overclocked at the moment. Did not see any difference. But since this is the expected behavior, no problem. I will just concentrate on getting to now the device better and test other fast loaders in function roms :)

Network tester - cool! I will contact you.

Great. I will look forward to that

On a C128DCR kernel replacement with a C64-targetted kernel ROM works for me as long as I press the Commodore key in time for reset. Meaning: First select Kernel in Sidekick menu (press 5 twice) and then quickly hold Commodore key. It resets and shows the kernel's welcome message for me.

My standard C128 unfortunately can not do the same. When I press 6 twice (my JiffyDos64 kernal is in slot 6) it first highlights as it should with the first press. Second press it resets and if I pres the Commodore key there it just hangs on a green screen. If I do not press the Commodore key et goes to C128 basic. If I there type Go 64 it hangs after I press Y.

Anyone else who can reproduce emulaThors result?

BTW: emulaThor How is it going with getting the SK64 online? I would be happy to test if you still need testers. :)

(external) kernal replacement works only works on C64s (because of the way this is achieved on the expansion port), on C128 you can only use function ROMs.

Ahhhh. I did not know that :) ... No problem. I will just use another fastloader or maybe even buy a couple of original JiffyDOS roms ... :D

When the kernal entries are green this means that the wire to pin 28 has been detected, and it should work if the Sidekick64 works properly (did you build it yourself or get it prebuilt?). Have you double-checked filenames and paths?

I am more or less sure my SideKick64 works as it should. I bought an .42 version PCB with the SMD components allready soldered from Restore Store so I only had to solder the pin header, screen and some pins. I think I did that correctly.

As far as I can tell, all the functions I have tried works on my C128 - except kernal replacement. Playing SID's, loading CRTs, direct load of .PRG files, 8 SID's emulation. The only "issue" I have is that sometimes (once in every 5/10 cold boot) the menu does not come up when I start. However, that is taken care of by pressing the right most button a couple of seconds.

Even if the device work I am, however, not sure that I know how to use it properly .. learning that. And any pointers to guides etc. would be highly appreciated.

Thank you for the reply and a cool project

Sorry in advance if this has been answered before!

    How do I enable JiffyDOS 128 and 64 on a standard C128 with a SK64?

I have put the JiffyDOS 128 and the JiffyDOS 64 .bin files in the kernal folder and made two separate entry’s in the kernal part of the menu that points to them. I have a wire attached to the CPU pin 28 going to the bottom pin on the SK. Both the JiffyDOS 128 entry and the JiffyDOS 64 entry are green.

However, when I press the key for JiffyDOS 128 it just resets to c128 basic. No JiffyDOS. The same for JiffyDOS 64 but there it goes to C64 basic

    Any suggestions?
