Hi everybody,
the machine is progressing well as you have seen on facebook and the MEGA homepage, still we could use some help to speed things up and/or do better and more. At the moment we are looking for a talented graphics artist. Oh, and coders (VHDL, 6502, C++) are always welcome. If you might be interested don't hesitate to contact us here, over mega.ms or via mega65.org. Thank you in advance!
cheers

The logo was created that way so there is a visible difference to anything Commodore and we don't have to deal with lawsuits but can do development instead. We're pretty happy with what it is, however, if you feel like you can make a better one please go ahead and we will consider using yours in the future

Hi Ordyne,
sorry for the delay, same reasons as written before
Please come to EFNet #mega. See ya
-
Hi Matty C,
sorry for the delay, we kinda are in a christmas break
We will get to you really soon hoping that you can -with a little help- maintain the PSRAM board's streams
-
No write support yet. Noone has taken the job of doing better 15X1 emulation yet. Hopefully someone will pop up soon
-
At the moment we have the wonderful combination of a PAL C64 running in 60 Hz
As timings will change and we are moving towards exact cycles everything is in change anyways.
-
Hi Ordyne, I just set up an open data room and uploaded the first demo disk (without the copyrighted games) to it. Please find it (and more in the future) here:

To answer you first question: Latest bitstream already comes with flashable file making the core and kickstart start super quick (about one second) from flash memory. Final model will have around 2 seconds total bootup time and not display any text meanwhile - unless you want it to - just like the original!
-
There will be an analog output, probably composite or oldschool RGB. Goal is to be able to connect a 1084s or other oldschool comodore monitor.
-
Please see / discuss in thread "Monted 00 Partitions" <- nice typo there by the way. Problem reported is NOT bitstream related but SD card. Always (quick) format the SD card when updating, rom dropping to monitor in c65 basic is known and also SD card related. Try other cluster sizes please!
If someone wants to take care of our SD compatibility problems, let us know. For now they are not top pio. Cheap 1GB and 2GB cards and standard windows format option will always do the trick. But yes, we need more people covering side-tasks and enhancing/finishing them!
-
Mirkosoft please read my post #7. Wrong cluster size resulted in my C65 rom (911101) dropping to monitor only.
-
I agree regarding "more is better" but I understand that you want to use the MEGA65 in combination with your TV set. We are have not given up on native 1080p50 and it probably will work at some point. Worst case would be to equip the MEGA65 computers with a built-in downscaler and HDMI socket. All will be good

Hi,
MEGA65 is a modular system. You don't need to use or buy a floppy drive if you don't like one. SD-cards are and will always be supported. However, basis for the MEGA65 is the C65 so we are starting with it's original case. There might be other versions from us but I think you should just build YOUR perfect machine YOURSELF
We will try to help you in the process and in sharing your progress with the community if you like...

Always up-to-date installation/prerelease starter's manual:
https://docs.google.com/docume…txUIOh1Y/edit?usp=sharing
ATTENTION: New bitstream has new filenames!
charset: CHARROM.M65
boot logo: BOOTOGO.M65
c65 rom: MEGA65.ROM
automount: MEGA65.D81

Suddenly having problems with a 1GB sdcard again I just noticed a lot of bad stuff might or even will happen if you set the cluster size to default (4096 bytes) ! The C65 ROM kept dropping into debugger or not booting at all. Setting the cluster size to 512 bytes when formatting the card in Windows (fat32 of course) fixed the problem! I will try that fix for cards we thought to be incompatible (like 8GB and up) and report back.

Update: I bought one of the cheap converters mentioned in last post ( < 18 euros including shipping) and they do full HD! Good value to the money and I guess problem solved for now
-
Here's your solution! These converters do HD-ready output on HDMI including Audio. They have been successfully tested by us. For 16,99 including shipping they are the perfect solution for now! This does not mean we won't be looking into native 1080p50 in the future, but right now we got other priorities (again: cases, keyboards, pcbs...).

Please see thread "Monted 00 Partitions". If you succeed please write a tutorial and put it somewhere here. We are super busy building the cases, the keyboards and the pcbs right now so it is impossible to put time into a better tutorial atm.
-
The really important thing is that the partition table MUST be DOS-style FDISK (4 partition slots only), not EFS or one of the other newer disk layouts that allow more than 4 partitions. Please let us know if you succeed and someone please write a text tutorial

Hi,
the ROM checksum always is bad. 910111 is the one to go with, however other versions should boot aswell. For the charset, get a c64 one from zimmers.net and rename it. Try without a bootdisk at first, you can still mount it later. Please also make sure all switches on the board are set to OFF position. As you noticed, our SD implementation is not super clean yet so if you fiddle around, reformat (fat32) the card from time to time. Put the bitstream on it first, then the ROM, then the charset if you have one, then the bootlogo if you have one. Hope that helps - good luck and let me know!
