When the MEGA65 will be released, will it then receive future OS/firmware versions due to bugs, new features or security fixes (I assume the network port poses some risks to some extend)?
And if so then how is this done - is it through network via the configuration menu or manual via Micro-SD (it would be nice to auto-download this through internet)? 
As it is an opensource project, I guess it will have some upgrades.

As Freddy mentioned it is an open source project. For this reason it is dependent on comrades-in-arms who provide them. So be brave and get involved. In which way exactly updates will come, will show the time.

of course the MEGA65 will be updated continousely. our vision is, since it's open-source, that it will be updated not only from us, but from the whole community.
We expect, that once the MEGA65 is released, that people will start to port cores over to the MEGA or add features they would like to have, like i.e. Userport, Datasette port...who knows....
At the moment the update is done via a programmer on the MEGA65 pcb and via SD card on the Nexys4 board.
We plan to change the way how to update in the future...

And the good thing, since everything will be open source, you can do an update, even if the activity in the community starts to slow down (only talking about a theoretical possibility -of course this never will happen )
