but an emulation is not as good as FPGA simulation. A MiSTer core would certainly help.
That is correct.
But an emulator is better than no Mega65 and no MiSTer Mega65 core.

Since the whole MEGA65 project is open source and like we said at the DoReCo and elsewhere as well, we would be absolutely happy, if some chinese company or so would "clone" the MEGA65 and would release a cheaper version.
But for us personally, a cheap version of the MEGA65 was never our intention. We wanted to have the best possible FPGA based Retro machine and this is exactly what the MEGA65 is.
This is the reason as well, why we do not have a problem at all with having sold only around 750 machines yet.
The hardcore fans, that want an original, high quality version can still get one, whoever wants to test the MEGA65s capabilities can start with Xemu or a Nexysboard.

I know how you mean it.
It is only a little bit difficult, if I want to make the MEGA65 palatable to people, who are not yet so in the matter, and on the question of the price of nearly 800 EUR I must then say, "Yes, the boys wanted to build just something 'super cool' and not look at the price! Pay or move on!"
I still hope that you will soon get rid of all 1400 pieces and that you will get your pre-financed costs back as soon as possible. Even if you are not allowed to earn anything with the project, you should hopefully not pay on it either! Thanks for your great work!
Well, you can't please everyone. Please do not restart a price discussion again. That being said, let me remind you that the topic of this thread is "Case funding site has been opened, we are looking for help who will be the number one?" If at all, you might want to go over to "Der MEGA65-Laber-Stammtisch" for chitchat Cheers guys!
finchy I think we have several "Stammtisch"-Threads currently, all talking about the same topic over and over again. I'm not a fan of closing threads, but maybe it would make sense to close those that are clearly overdue (like this one)? On the other hand, it got resurrected by someone who donated for the cases and had a more or less legitimate question about order priorities, so HIS question was probably in the correct thread. But now it's the same old "MEGA65 is too expensive" discussion over and over again.
Yes indeed. I'll watch this part of the forum more closely. Not a big fan of closing threads, but even less excited to have to click through three pages before I find something on-topic. So will close this thread for now. I'm sure there will be a "who has the smallest" (serial number) discussion anyway once the first units will arrive.
