  • Goodmorning everyone

My name is Dragan class 66 and I am from Slovenia

I have been following your discussions for a long time and with a lot of interest .. you are really very good.

In the end I decided to sign up ... perhaps also thanks to more time available considering that I am retired

I followed the directions of "Bigby" and "Hucky" to make the Mario cartridge and I succeeded on the basis of the Hucky version ... I honestly didn't think I could do it

Giana Sister has always been my favorite game ... I followed Bigby's tips again (you are really great) and after making a "magic desk" card I uploaded the file of "The Jocker" and it works!

But in the original version (I have the disc) there is also an intro. I tried the Giana files from SAM, I managed to start on the Vice emulator .. but as it said "Bigby" loaded on the cartridge does not work .. black screen after the intro

Has anyone looked at this again?

    Hucky

Would it be possible to have the .bin version of Giana Sister for your board?

With cartconv I don't find among the options how to convert a CRT to your "Hucky" format

Sorry for the mistakes but I don't know much English and I rely on the translator

Thank you all for your attention and for any support

  • Karlxam55 Welcome to the forum! I'm glad to hear that you like what we've been trying here.

Myself, I have not investigated the Giana Sisters Intro any further since I was quite content with the image that The Joker provided above. But it seems like Hucky solved that problem for his own cart type.

    Hi Hucky

well..thank you very much!I'll try to test this afternoon..I'm very curious to try it :O

In a broader sense is there a utility to convert CRT files found on the web to the "Hucky" format?

I'm comig from old school .. when the games on the cartridge were only one .. I don't like modern multi rom cards very much .. also because my age I had just a few games that remained in my mind as the most beautiful.

I was thinking for example of Montezuma's revenge and Ghost 'n Goblins.

Of course I'd like to be able to figure out how to convert CRT files to bin for use with your card.

I made Mario's thanks to the fantastic "Bigby" report that made available the documentation on the portal and the rom ready

I hope the translation is understandable

    Thanks again and best regards

    Dragan

Thank you too Bigby for your great ssupport and information here...:)

As said before my dream is to realize with Hucky board also Montezuma and Ghost 'n Goblins

First one was with Giana one of my favorite games...and Ghiost'n Goblins I remember with Sega Master System

    here are the BINs

For Montezuma's Revenge (i hope you mean this game) you need a 32K Eprom (27C256).

    For Ghosts'n'Goblins take a 64K Eprom (27C512)

I don't try the BINs, but i think it works ;)

    Wondeful!

Yes for cartridge thanks...you mean 27C256..but I have only 27C512..is it possible to do?MAybe something hardware to configure?

Or I have to duplicate this 32K in order to have 64K image?

Maybe I have something ceramic 256..not electric erase..so I have only "one shot" :)

Another question..your C64 Karte is modified only for Giana..is it correct?I mean..MArio..Montezuma e Ghost works with unmodified Hucky board

Thank you very much Hucky..the best!

  • 27C256..but I have only 27C512

If you only have 27C512 EEPROMs, you can take the 32k image and just append the same image again. So, write it once starting at 0x0000 and again starting at 0x8000.

    its correct !

  • do it like bigby wrote. But it also works if you only burn the file in the upper half of the EPROM. Starting at 0x8000.

    I'll try with Giana...it works!Great job Hucky

The only difference between your image and original one is the intial Logo of producer...but I have understand that is not possible because it is a protection against copy...is it true?

Another thing..do you have a lineguide for this 64K Karte?

Start with Vice..show me tre options..but I don't understand what I have to do.

I would like to do myself with Donkey Kong or something else..it's amazing that is possible to do different vintage game

    Starting on Vice show me

    F1..F3..F5

F1 Load program..I think that I have to write down the file name for example Giana.crt..but it show me error --> Name:...here write Giana.crt...but result is "Status 62,file not found,00,00"

MY doubt is..where I have to copy the crt file?Is it correct in the Vice root?

    Thanks again

  • Karlxam55

I will write a manual, but in German.
I will also create videos for this.
    But that still takes

You can only load normal programs, no .CRT files!
With Vice you start my program first. Then you open a .d64 file (floppy disk) with your game on it, which you want to edit for my 64K card. For example Donkey Kong.
The game must be able to load normally with 8 and start with RUN.
On my program, you press F1 and then type in the name of the game. To check you can press F3 (Directory).
To speed things up with Vice you can use the warp mode. ALT-W.
After the game has loaded, the disc status is displayed. After pressing a button you are back in the menu.
Press F5 to save the edited game.
If you want to burn Eproms on the C64, that's it.
If you want to burn Eproms on the PC, you have to put the file that you saved with F5 in a BIN. Convert file. I use the PRG-Mover program for this.
But there is certainly another way.

    Hello again Hucky

in my short time even if retired I try to fiddle a bit with these Commodore.

I can confirm that I also tried Ghost on Eprom OTP ... and it works on my homemade board (which is yours :-))

Now I was trying to use that little program of yours ... and maybe something I managed to do.

Since among the many I also remember the legendary Bubble Bobble I followed the procedure .. and incredibly it works! But the loading is very long .. it takes almost 30 seconds.

Is there a way to speed up? Maybe I forgot something? Because your images are very fast loading ... and I read here and there from the user Jocker who even for "Giana Sister" had made a version that loaded in 4 seconds

Now I don't think I have the knowledge to put my hand to the code .. in case, if you have the desire and time, would you be able to do this too? :-))

In the version that was generated I have the initial screen of the game but without the two Dragons ... maybe even here we need a right source

In any case, still guarantees for patience and availability

    Alll the best

    Dragan

    Hello
When you load 30 seconds you mean the entire time until the game finally starts.
I created a freeze with the ARVI module from the "Remember" crack where I left out everything that was useless.
No crack opening credits, no "info" page, no coach selection.

the game starts in a few seconds.
