Hi Robert,
Sorry to hear that it's still not working as expected. So what's the situation in the moment? I asked for pictures of the configuration/diagnostic screen as well as of the internal wiring. Did Ray take such pictures?

The maker of the fpgaSID should include such a disk with their module. That would insure correct operation.
What module is he/Ray referring to? Maybe it would help, if Ray would post his "modul" he uses with his old stereo setup, so we can check what it is doing.
If the FPGASID is properly installed with all the wiring on its correct places and if the configuration is set to Stereo in ConfiGuru, you can use any software that plays stereo SID tunes.
As Andi already wrote before, with configuring stereo in the easy setup of ConfiGuru, the FPGASID will work with stereo SID tunes that are composed using SIDs on the addresses (SID1) $D400, (SID2) $D420 or $D500.

...it should have been a drop-in success but it simply didn't work. I tried everything I could but I can't have it open on my bench forever. If there is someone else you can think of to try, let's do that. It's back in the box.
Ray
It is a "drop-in success"! You just swap the real SID with a FPGASID and it works out of the box as the old SID did. Without wiring or setting up anything!
To get the stereo part working you indeed need to connect the right wiring to the correct connectors on your board and need to switch the configuration in the EasySetup in ConfiGuru to Stereo. That's it.
If that doesn't work on Rays C64, either the setting wasn't done properly, or the C64 or even the FPGASID might be faulty.
To help you out there, you were asked by andi6510 to please post some pictures of the configuration screen and the internal wiring of the C64, to check if everything is set up properly. Otherwise it is hard to help without knowing what is going wrong!
I recently ordered 2 of the FPGASID. One of them works fine, but the other just results in a black screen. Have tried it in several of my breadbins; same result. What's the first plan of attack?
Thanks
OK, I took a look under the microscope. One of the caps was dislodged, but it still appeared to be making contact and doesn't look like it was shorted. I removed the cap, re-tinned the pads and re-soldered it. No I get a partial screen on the C64, but it is just garbled.2016_0101_000418_001.JPG
A black or garbeled screen indicates either problems on the data lines or a weak power supply. Usually it's Power supply.
In case you live in Europe insuggest returning the device to kryoflux. They usally send it to me for analysis.
In case you live on another continent, shipping may eat Up all the value of the device. In that case we can try to repair it remotely.
Can you remove all wiring and just plug the FPGASID firmly into the socket, please? Then check again. Sometimes the hooks that are used to connect the extra signals make false contact to then neighbouring pins. That should bei ruled Out Boy removing the cables.
Thanks. Yes, I tested with all wiring disconnected. For PSU, I have several modern replacements; a Ray Carlsen PSU and another 3rd party supply. I have the same result with both. Note that in all cases, my other FPGASID (ordered at the same time) works just fine.
I'm in Australia, so postage isn't likely an option. I'll scope the data lines and see if there's anything unusual.
Thanks
Just one more question: does the broken FPGASID show the usual idle blinking on its LEDs?

About 75% of the time, it does. Other times, lights come on briefly then go out.
I've scoped all pins. /RES, R/W, /CS all remain high. Address lines all look fine. All data lines look odd. This is a little beyond my skill level for sure, but I don't think those 2V lows are normal. Certainly, with the FPGASID out of the board, they don't do that.

OK, that sounds very bad.
When did you buy the two FPGASIDs? Just recently? Was it dead on arrival or did it work before? All devices that come from our manufacturer go through some extensive testing. So a dead on arrival should not happen. But shit always happens...
In case you still have warranty, would you please contact kryoflux and ask for a replacement? Put me on CC in case any discussion should come up.

I purchased 2 in April. One of them has been in use, the other had been sitting in the box waiting to be used. I got it out Friday night and discovered it was not working. FWIW, I just ordered another 2, but I will notify Kryoflux about this one.
Thanks
Kryoflux gives 2 years warranty. But they usually want the broken device in return. Shipping is without customers fee when it is a return. So hopefully shipping ist not too expensive in this case.
