C64R-MK2 with 1541U-II working accept for freezer screen KCS powercard en FCIII

  • Hello,

I have a minor issue with noth my 1541U-II in combination with both my C64 Reloaded MK2.

Everything works stable. I can use the systems for hours without any glitch or what so ever . Accept for the freezer screen of the FinalCard III and KCS Powercard.
The screen is distorted in the freezer menu's. The graphics mode seems to be an issue. I have no issues with the other freezers roms in the 1541U-II.

The edgerecovery and time are at there defaults (On and 80ns), afcource i tried some other settings, but it only got worse. I also tried different version of the firmware for the 1541U (currently 3.2.) The C64R-MK2's are running the latest firmware.

When using a real KCS card or FCIII card in de C64R-MK2 everything works 100%, when using a 1541U-II in my C64G, everything works 100% too.
Since i have this issue with both setups i dont think there some hardware faults in one of the devices.

I only read posts about the 1541U-II not working stable on the C64R-MK2, this is mostly due to 'incorrect' settings, but i didnt come across this little issue (i know where every option is in the KCS card :D )

Does anybody have the same issue, or even better, does somebody know a solution for this?

    Kind regard,
    Marco

  • Ok, IIRR 3.2 on both, U2 and U2+, is known to have problems...

Therefore you may want to try an older firmware - or a newer inoffocial one (for those, see my signature).

Edit: There is 3.2a available from Gideon. Published only on new U2+ devices, but recompiled from sources - so quite much official.

  • I tried older firmware (2.6 till 3.2), all gives the same result, everything works stable, exept for the freezer screen of the KCS powercard and FCIII.

But i cant tell what device causes this behaviour since the Original c64 with 1541U-II dont give this problem, and the Original card's in the C64R-MKII also gives no strange behaviour.

I think i give 3.2a a try… I dont see any new updates for the C64R-MK2, 20180227 seems to be the last one.
