  • Sieht für mich so aus, als würde der Monitor versuchen. ein YUV-Bild aus dem S-Video Signal zu dekodieren. Wahrscheinlich Einstellungssache.

  • From the last update for some days my Reloaded doesn't start, led flashes, terminal program reports the VIC2 (U19) isn't recognized.
If i reflash the board resetting the configuration after a powercycle the board start correctly, all the chips are recognized.

Has anyone kept the penultimate update?

  • I changed the 6569R5 with the 8565R2.

Even re-flashing the card with previous firmware, at cold, the led flashes and the VIC2 (U19) is not recognized.
but with the 8565R2 the board still starts, and the Basic screen appears.

After 2 - 3 minutes if i switch off and on (powecycle) the board the led doesn't flash anymore, the VIC2, according the terminal program, is correctly recognized.

Has anyone encountered this problem ?
    How can i solve ?

It's been happening for a couple of days.

I have this problem from time to time. (You can see it for example Bitte melde dich an, um diesen Link zu sehen. at 5:47)
I can solve it by switching of and on the board, untill the VIC is recognized.
This solves the Problem - the VIC does not become unrecognized during the session.
I thought it is a Problme with a VIC, that is cloes to the edge of silicon heaven ...

  • But in my case the problem appeared since 2 days.
All my chips have always been recognized, and I have not touched anything for a month.

The problem manifests itself with both the 8565R2 and the VIC6569R5, but only with the 8565R2 the Basic screen still appears, even if the led flashes.

After a minute a powercycle solves the problem, all recognized no flashes from the led.

    Very strange !

I believe I have identified the problem:

    - at cold, use an hairphone on the quartz shown in the photo for 10 seconds
    - then switch on the board
    - all perfect, U19 recognized, no led flash

I think it's a faulty quartz, at least in my case.

  • In my case it is more random - I somtimes get it als running at the first shoot.
I try to get another VIC - to see it is a problem of my VIC, which is my most suspect, sinc it really looks not that good.

  • I just found a defective crystal on another customers' board; Turns out that the MCU decides to run on the internal oscillator at about 24MHz if the external oscillator does not swing.

In theory, this translates to a baud rate of 17066 that you may be able to use. However, the Prolific chip may not support his, and it is just an academic thought. In any case, the cause for "garbled characters on terminal" is found, and the crystal needs to be exchanged. If anyone has this problem, please contact me via eMail, or send the board with a short note included.

  • Thanks Jens

The problem is that it costs me 30€ the first time i send back the board, and it came back to me in the same conditions.
Thanks to the help of 2 of my technical friends i found the problem, but i don't want to spend any more money.

    Thanks anyway for your support.

  • As discussed via e-mail, I'll send you a crystal. The one you've linked to would work, but would not be 100% perfect, as the dampening resistor and the capacitors are calculated for a 20pF load. With the high Q of over 1000 that a crystal normally has, this is not a problem, but since I take calculation of a clocking circuit seriously, let's just get it right
