-
I connected the board via USB to the PC, launched the Configuration Tool, switched on the RR64mk2 and clicked on Connect, but no output in the window tool
This is the balck & white output of my board on all TV / Monitors i use at home:
You reported this before, you've sent the board back and we could not find any problem here. Maybe because you failed to include all the chips that you're using (as I requested), maybe because some other component of your setup is at fault - I have no idea. Monitor showed colour without any problems here, and the USB connection worked fine, we've even updated your board with an itermediate MCU version before shipping it back.
I offered a refund, and you insisted on getting the board back, although I did not expect that the problem would vanish without finding the actual cause. I paid the shipment back to Italy, and now the exact thing that I predicted happened: Your problems persist: The USB connection does not work with your PC, and your monitor does not display colour.
Without investigating the whole setup (which would be huge here), there's no way I can help. Please do some substantial changes to that setup in order to iron out any source of trouble:
- use a different USB cable
- use a different computer, especially a different USB card/adapter/hub
- check the Prolific drivers
- make sure nothing is using/altering the settings of the Prolific COM port
- use a different monitor cable, try both S-Video and compositeIf that does not help, I can really only offer a refund. If I cannot reproduce an error, I can't fix it.

Alles anzeigen
- use a different USB cable
Done, tested 3 x USB Cables
- use a different computer, especially a different USB card/adapter/hub
Done, i test an old PC Celeron Windows XP machine even
- check the Prolific drivers
Installed and working from the Windows properties
- make sure nothing is using/altering the settings of the Prolific COM port
I disabled AVIRA and Internet connection
- use a different monitor cable, try both S-Video and composite
Tested on a Sony, LG TV LED, and on a Philips 8833 mk2 PAL monitor, only via VideoComposite. I don't have any TV/Monitors with SuperVideo connection. It's not more available on modern TV.- If that does not help, I can really only offer a refund. If I cannot reproduce an error, I can't fix it.
I need only help and suggestions to find a solution, no refund. I tested various chips: 4 x CIA, 3 x VIC6569R5, 1 x 6569R3, 2 x 8565R2, 1 x MOS8500, 1 x MOS8580,
tested them with some Diagnostic programs started from my Ultimate II cartridge. No problems on chips installed on the Reloaded. At last i connected the board without chips installed, and TeraTerm and Putty output always strange characters, no interference from the chips on board.
Why the updater tool don't see my board even if it says "Connected" in the bottom window ?Thanks for your help.

Hi,

on the first computer (Win 7 64 bit) I could easily access the console, but the tool did not haunt any information. As a result, the flashing did not work either.
The second computer (Win 10 64Bit) ran through it easily.Good !
Thanks, now i install Windows 10 on one PC. -
I found one 14" Old CRT Television which works correctly with the board, image well centerd and in color !
Now i have to make it work the terminal program, but the Windows 10 installation on a notebook did not give the desired results.
I have to buy a USB HUB and make more test. -

At last i connected the board without chips installed, and TeraTerm and Putty output always strange characters, no interference from the chips on board.
Did you made the correct settings of baud-rate?
Parameters: 19200Bps, 8 databits, No Parity 1 Stopbit (19200 8N1), No handshake (RTS/CTS is not connected)

What do i wrong ? -
What do i wrong ?
Try running with administrator rights. This has solved it for a customer from Finland.

No way, even with administrator rights. I bought also a USB HUB to make test, same results.
Windows 10 machine, but i have a friend with this setup.I don't understand why all my C64s work perfectly on all TV/Monitor LCD/CRT/PAL while the C64 Reloaded screen is perfect only on the old CRT TV 14".
There is an explanation for this difference?
C64 and a new C64 Reloaded board? Thanks for your attention.

What kind of video connection do you use at the MK2?
- CVBS at the DIN connector?
- S-Video (aka "Y/C") at the DIN connector?
- S-Video at the Hosiden aka Mini-DIN connector?
What kind of video connection do you use at the old plain C64s? Is it exactly the same as with the MK2? Same cable? Same connectors?
- CVBS at the DIN connector?
- S-Video at the DIN connector?
- S-Video at the Hosiden aka Mini-DIN connector?
What kind of input do you use at your TFTs, TVs, etc.?
- SCART?
- S-Video over Hosiden or S-Video over RFCA aka Cinch?
- DIN 6-pin? (very uncommon)

I only use DIN RCA standard C64 connector. I have many C64 to RCA cables at home, all working.
My TV/Monitor Samsung has RCA (VideoComposite + Audio) input, as well as Componet RCA, VGA, 2 x HDMI, USB and Scart RGB.I have also a C64 SuperVideo to Scart Cable, but the video-output on all TV LCD i tested is horrible !
Most modern TV LCD/LED aren't compatible with S-Video signals.
Only on an old Mivar 17" CRT PAL TV S-Video signal was perfect, and on C= 1084S D2 with Chroma/Luma input which i sold many year ago.Other mini-din S-Video output on C64 Reloaded connected with a S-Video>Scart Connector give me a Black & White screen on all the TV/Monitors LCD tested.
For now only the old 14" CRT TV of my kitchen is compatible with video-signal (composite) of my C64 Reloaed.
I accept this, because it confirm that the board works correctly, but i want understand why there is this difference between an old C64 and the Reloaded mk2.
I have 8 x C64s at home (motherboard 250407, 250425, 250466, 250469) all working perfectly on all my TV LCD and Philips CRT PAL Monitor.
I have also 2 x MSX with RGB Scart output, 4 x Amstrad CPC (classic and Plus), 4 x ZX Spectrum (VideoComp mod and RGB Scart), 6 x Amiga 1200, 2 x Amiga 600, 1 x Megadrive 2 RGB, 1 x Atari 130 xe and some others...Never a problem of video signal on my TV and Monitors.

From further testing it is how the board run at more speed of real 50Hz.
Music in games are little accelerated.
But not at 60Hz, not.
It's more of 50Hz, and i think this is the cause of black & white screen and out of sync (dropped frames) in games with scrolling like wonderboy.
Modern TV LCD are not tolerant enough with non-standard signals. For this i have to make it works the terminal USB connection, because i want to force the board to runs at 50Hz.

Furter test !!!!!!!!!!!
I switched the MOS8580 with the old SID6581R4AR
and the VIC 8565R2 with OLD 6569R5.Now the screen is in full Color and perfect sync on my LCD TV/Monitor !!!!!!!!!!
Yeah !
More test to come...
-
Ok, i re-switched again only the VIC chip and the image is alway perfect.
So, the cause is the MOS 8580 <_<
-
Can you retest? Maybe even test the SID in another C64.
Would be interesting if the SID has an impect on the video timing ...

Eureka !!! The Terminal console on my Windows 7 !!!!
