I have recreated this phenomena, so I looked back to the previous version (V1.4 - released some 98 days ago) and it is present in that version too.
Everything has been mastered now, so it looks like I will have to live with it. If I had an earlier report, I would have addressed this.
Nothing is affected by this, it is caused by the way I make a 'fake' top border 2 chars tall at the top of the screen on Asteroid fields (levels 10,20,30 and 40), so the asteroids appear under my new fake border - to make it look smoother when they appear on the screen, I change the sprite/char priority for this effect. It looks like have overlooked setting the sprite/char priority when the bottom border IRQ changes to the AMY sprites vector (and it displays the VIC-II garbage byte on top of the AMY sprites) as it works perfectly when the score sprites are displayed.
Just goes to show, that no matter how long something is out there and being tested - as soon as you commit to mastering, things appear! I had 3 different people NTSC testing for me for months and not one report of this issue...
So happy it is nothing game breaking and merely a minor cosmetic flaw.
