  • Hi!

Appologizes for writing in English! I can barely read German, and writing is even worse :(

I have 2 C128's....One US version (NTSC) and one European (PAL) version.

The PAL version is unstable with MMC64. SID player, diskwriter etc. hangs frequently.
But after I connected my Action Replay MK V to the MMC64 it become more stable. I seldom have hangs in the SID-player. Diskwriting is also working flawless.

    Im using bios v.0.97

Just wanted to share this information with you people.

Will there be a bios-upgrade that enables us to run a program directly from the MMC64??
This would be a very neat feature!! Diskwriting is veeeery slow....

  • There are several programs which do that. Three of them come to my mind now:

  • Hi,

Open your D64-Image with D64 Editor or Star Commander, extract one or more of your favorite files, the extension .prg must be stay !!!

Then put it in your selfmade folder (named: programs or games) into your SD-Card.

Only working files with max. 202 blocks or smaller, complete disks are not supported.

Select these file/s at your mmc64 and have fun

I had exactly the same problem with my C128D. It was caused by contact problems at the expansion port. The PCB of the MMC64 is a little bit thinner than PCBs of other cartridges.
Only when I have a cartridge connected to the MMC64, the hardware runs stable. The additional weight of the cartridge lasting on the MMC64 and pushing it down a bit makes the electric connection between the MMC64 and the expansion port much more stable, resulting in a much better behavior.

But how about games that uses a lot of smale files, will the game be able to load other files it uses, as long as it is under 202 blocks??
