DANN muss das Spiel natürlich statt mit einer Standard-MC-Bitmap mit einem FLI Hintergrund arbeiten
Spaß beiseite: ich freu mich auf das erste Preview
Good work. Much improved graphics compared to the original Elite release. Will be good to play the completed game. Sure hope the audio matches the quality of the graphics. One small thing, concerning the graphics, why are the 2 strips to the left and right of the play area striped?

Ich bin mal so frei...
Hey Wec,
As stated in posting #229, those strips are what is left over from the original "frame" around the screen of the arcade game machine. Retrofan is still about to work on those columns, so there are still some changes to be expected on this in the final version of the game. His aim is the game to be famous for those special design details, and not to be confused with other versions.
Er fragt ja nicht wieso da Streifen sind, sondern warum die Streifen gestreift sind
Weil halt.
Fragen gibt's...
Stripeception!
why are the 2 strips to the left and right of the play area striped?
It's just for fun.
It's just for fun.
ah I see. I did wonder. Artistic licence, to add some fun to what otherwise would look like plain columns.
I wondered. Would it not be possible to use sprites for the Bombs?
There will be a Hot Coffee Mod to enable the legs to be placed left and right of the screen...
Would it not be possible to use sprites for the Bombs?
No way. We need all sprites for the enemies.
Macht einfach weiter
Some time ago, while looking at MAME and Bomb Jack, and imagining how the screen might fit the C64, and looking at sprites, and how Elite made an error with over-sized sprites, while being too lazy to re create a backdrop (although I came close) I did create a sprite, and used the colours red white black, red being the changeable colour, unlike Elite who appeared to used red and grey as the 2 fixed sprite colors. It might seem slightly radical, the sprite I came up with looked like:

Find ich toll.

Nice. But I like my own Jack (in the middle) a little bit more. He is small enough, has more face (eyes, mouth) and separates better from the background, too.
I hope you are not disappointed.

The thing with Bomb Jack is, the characters do not have black outlines.

Ich nicht !

The arcade version has many colors while the C64 has only 16 and a sprite even much less. Under this condition, I think, black outlines are indeed a good way to make it easily distinguishable from the background.

The thing with this new version is, now they have.
