Too bad that there seem to be legal issues  I'd really like to have a FC3 for my Easyflash. I've tried a number of cartridges but FC3 remains my favourite. Maybe it's possible to achieve a consensual solution?

  • If issues are about EF: Contact Skoe
If it's about FCIII, I can hardly imagine how legal issues
    a) might be solved (though binaries are around and can be leeched at various places, it ain't freeware AFAIK and never will be)
    b) matter to anyone some 30 years later, so just do it

  • You can always just publish your patch?
As people did with the whole software, firmware and hardware before?

  • Yes, i can of course ... about this possibility we know all the time.

And maybe the people can support my work when they have an interest (if they really want).
And for supporters I can provide all my tools incl. CPLD firmware for "free". Or I can have any other ideas (e.g. illegal ?), but ... I would like to do it respecting the EF3 people. Because it is correct.

  • If you want to respect the EF3 people, you should release your work for free.

  • you should release your work for free

    Really ???
    :):):)
I think this decision is fully on my side, isn't it ?
Please, respect ME as well ! I can do anything what I want, this is MY work.

Maybe you should send this request to EF3 people to do it for free ... I'm not member of EF3 team. Actually, it could be one of the possible solution - the best solution.
And, exactly the waiting was my motivation to start this project, please don't forget !!!

Of course, I have to respect EF3 people, because it is done on their HW and it works together with their submodules etc. ... it is still valid.

  • Oh, ich kann mich ja tatsächlich hier noch einloggen :)

I added FC3 support to the EasyFlash 2 already in 2010. The sources are freely available for everybody who needs them (search for MODE_FC3):

There are still some remains in some EF3 sources even:

I ported it to EF3 too, but never released it because of the CPLD space issue and because I didn't want to maintain two CPLD images. Since the EF2 and EF3 are very similar, it's quite easy to port it.

Peto74, yes, you have the same rights to use the EF2/EF3 sources as Unseen. You can derive a new work from it and release it for free or for money, whatever you want. As long as you fulfill the license terms, of course. For example you are not allowed to release modified source code w/o marking it as modified by you. Just read the license boiler plate carefully.

Of course it is your work and we all here respect your decision. Nobody wants to force you to release something for free. Seems to me that you want to misunderstand something. My yesterday's comment "you should release your work for free" is my personal opinion only. I am not connected to the EF-Team in any way.

But for me it has a bitter smell, that you want money (you talked about 10 €) for your implementation and I think your reaction about the comments here is somewhat exaggerated. In this forum everybody helps each other, spending dozens and hundreds of hours with problems of other people. I cannot remember that anyone ever said "I spent x hours for helping you, it is so painful work, please pay me now". If everybody here would think like you, we would not have Easyflash 1 & 3, SD2IEC and all the other great projects. Edit: Not to forget all the bulk orders, for example for C64 power switches or Amiga monitor-/floppy-connectors.

But hey, it is your decision and I am sure, if you release your work for 10 €, there will be enough people paying for it.

  • Thank you very much skoe, for your replay, I will try fulfill everything what is needed. My code was not ported from EF2, I didn't know about that in that time.
@Kongo-Otto: OK sorry for my "exaggerated" reaction. Charging or not, hmm I'm thinking what to do now ...
After return from my holiday I will go on ... Happy summer !

  • I have read the rules (german language) and the problem is most probably the web page link. Sorry.
I will try to send message in different form ...
    ---

    EF3 firmware is ready ...

    Additional info:

    • New CPLD firmware has version 1.1.2 (original is 1.1.1) - this is charged, cannot be redistributed for free.
    • Modified EF3 Menu has version 1.2.1 (original is 1.2.0) - this is NOT charged, can be redistributed for free.
    • Modified ROMs, EF type - this is NOT charged, can be redistributed for free.

Note: In these summer days I have restricted time, I will try to send it to you during the evenings/nights.

    Cheers.

I wanted to make this world better, but god denied to give me the sources...

  • Btw. awesome work

The File Manager is supporting fast loading from SD2IEC? Does it work just with FC3 or also with Action Replay Image?

    Thanks a lot
    Tom

  • The SD Commander v5.0 is the independent program, it has nothing with FC3. I have created it for my own use in the year 2014 (last update , version 5.0). And it is for me very useful. And yes, it works with SD2IEC as well. By default, it uses KERNAL routines for loading (slow), but you can press the key L and the fastloader routines will be activated. Pressing Shift-L you can activate back the KERNAL routines.
The current state you can see in the right upper corner.

  • Zuerst, danke an skoe für dieses fantastische open source Project.

I have been working on adding FC3 support to the EF3 and got something that seems to work reliably. The CPLD was pretty crammed so I had to do some optimizations and shortcuts, and the FC3+ (256 kbyte ROM) is not supported.

You can find the software here: Bitte melde dich an, um diesen Link zu sehen.

  • Ah, many thanks for FC III support. Just tried it and it seems stable. Tested only loading some stuff. But it works great so far.

  • Super Leistung, danke,

  • What is the correct way to get the new version ?

. Simply flash ef3-menu-1.3.0.crt into SLOT0 using the (possibly older) easyprog directly from the CRT ?
. Load easyprog-1.8.0.prg from disk, and then flash ef3-menu-1.3.0.crt into SLOT0

or either way works fine ?
