In the game the charset would have

to be changed, the save routine must save the correct variables, otherwise the hero is placed somewhere

    into the wall.

Yes, i have seen that bug myself many times in several locations. :(

While replying the disk original with a few VICE bug fixes in the boss screens.

I just found some very important behaviour in the game DISK loading.

When returning back to the tank screen after completing all the levels to the north.

if disk 2 is in the drive the tank level screen fails to load (crash).

but if disk 1 is in the drive, it loads correctly with the tank removed from the level screen.

so i think some duplicate unprotected files with the same names are on disk 1.

**there is no request for a disk change before or at that point.

the ammount of items held (ammunition, explosives, mines, grenades)

are limited by your current rank.

    5 mines - rank 1 star

    10 mines - rank 2 stars

*rank increases after #number of soilders rescued.

If you are going to collect the correct ammount of mines (from the exact same truck) to defeat the Tank.

The game levels must be played in a very strict order.

  • The IRQ-Loader loads first the Track 18,01 and searches for the entry of the file to be loaded. If it is not found a "turn disk" appears.

The timing of the irq loader is very critical and from time to time it loads the content from a dirsector to the location where the data should actually be loaded.

In most cases, this is the address that is in $ 0314 and $ 0315. After thats the game crashes with absolute certainty, because the address, in $ 0314 to $ 0315,

only contains data garbage and no code for the interupt.:)

  • It just made me think... ;)

The same IRQ loader on disk 1 might not be as bugged as that on disk 2.

And it could contain duplicate level data on both disks to save constant disk swapping.

so one side works and the other is corrupt.

But it sounds like you know what the problem is, and exactly how to fix it. :D

  • Does that images, running also on a Ultimate 1541 II ?

Or must i took a "normal" version of the PRG´s ?

    Brotscheibe

  • Yes, luckily I wrote down everything I changed in the code of the game.

Unfortunately I forgot most of it. In the next few days I will read my sheets. I,m getting old.:)

You could do a test. Move the files on disk 2 that caused the crash with Dirmaste to track 18,01 and then test, if the game still crashes at that point.

Attachment: The original irq loader code only decrypts by me. File 1 is a textprint from the code. File 2 ist the code. Startaddress is $20CC

Du kannst, falls das EasyFlash Image nicht funktionieren sollte, die angepasste 1581 Version nutzen.

  • Just done a quick comapare of the 2 disks.

It does indeed contain duplicate level data, stored on different tacks.

  • Yes, files with the same name on side a and side b are containing identical dates. I had to check every file of this before I started with the adapting.
If it wasn't, it would have taken me much longer to make the Adaptions. I already have games with the same file name but different content. Iron Lord is one such example.

With the replacing of files on disk 2, I wanted to test whether the IRQ loader can handle its irq-timing.

  • Hi

  • Guten tag!

I would like to request, if possible, two games:

    (1) Alternate Reality - The Dungeon

    (2) Master Ninja - Shadow Warrior of Death

    Danke! Erste post!

  • All the main Master Ninja files are written in BASIC.

so they would probably all need editing for the loader to work.

Saying that, I think it should make it a little easier for the average c64 user to attempt an EasyFlash version. :/

  • Thanks for answering .mad. , I've appreciated your work on gamebase64 for quite some time. Anyway, even if it was an EasyFlash version, it would still be welcomed.

I see that Alternate Reality - The City has been converted! Thanks to all involved!

  • Hi!

I'm trying to create two Easyflash compilations with Manfred Trenz games. Unfortunately Enforcer: Fullmetal Megablaster I can't get it to work by creating an xbank from D64 with disk2easyflash.

    Any suggestions? Thanks!

  • Hi

I wonder if anyone can help with this issue i have regarding "Armalyte"

i have installed Armalyte.crt on a Easyflash 2 cartridge as a single game but its crashes sometimes during gameplay and at the highscore table

this does not occur in Vice and i have tested the Easyflash 2 cartridge with a different Game and no issues

I guessing this has something to do with the "disk2easyflash" program..

Has anyone else seen this issue
