SwinSID firmware updates

    The new minor firmware upgrade was released:
    Changes:
    - fixed bug in filter cutoff calculation
    - added TDA1543A DAC support with special firmware version

    This major update brings many fixes and quality improvements.
    Changes since 20091111:
    - improved filter resonance range
    - support for all filter modes (lowpass, highpass, bandpass, notch)
    - improved ADSR envelope
    - added support for ring modulation
    - better sound of noise waveform
    - fixed hard sync bug
    - fixed voice 3 mute bug
    - fixed startup initialization
    - better support for "fanta in space" sample playback tricks
    - stereo split mode with special firmware
    - 8bit PWM output on AVR port B0
    - code optimizations for speed and clarity

    Hi everyone owning a SwinSID should flash this new Firmware a listen again to their favorite SIDs...

    I am currently doing it and be very impressed with the progress the SwinSID has made.

    sorry for my question.... but which version do i have to flash?
    my swinsid has two AVRs and is completly assembled. it has a tda1543, but i dont know if its a 1543A...

    Version with "stereo" suffix has "stereo split" mode enabled. It's for single AVR only.
    If you can't see TDA1543A label on it then use standard TDA1543 firmware.
    I don't recommend using TDA1543A because specific to this DAC timmings slows down entire processing. I released firmware for this DAC only for people who ordered this chip by mistake.

    Just flashed it. Works nice. For now I cannot hear any differences to the older Firmware but tomorrow i will check some of my favs.

    Does this mean there is a way to build SwnSid without a DAC? How do make this sound hearable? Just connect a speaker between B0 and GND?

    TDA DAC is not needed now, just connect B0 port pin with 4,7K resistor to SID audio out pin and 4,7K resistor from +5V after it to reduce volume level and add bias voltage. Remove your SID chip from socket before using PWM output. This stage works with new C64 models but may be very quiet on old models.

    Here it is ...

    Im Archiv befindet sich SwinSIDX2_20100416.hex etwas umbenannt damit diese in meine Nummereierungschema passt. Die Pseudostereo Firmware habe ich leider nicht. Kann diese ggf jemand anders noch anhängen?

    @ abraXxl: Danke.. damit habe ich die auch.. Hast du meinen neuen Versuch eine Sammelbestellung SwinSID zu organisieren gesehen..?

    Ich selbst bin allerdings von der aktuellsten Firmware nicht begeistert. Gewisse Töne fangen bei mir zum pfeifen an.

    @all: Weiß jemand was genaueres, warum Swinkels Seite down ist..? Hat jemand den Source der Firmware..?
