You write that you also have a noris 1535 datasette. Please disconnect it while flashíng.
Do you have the LS244 as IC6 and the HC/AL573 as IC2? Perhaps you can make a foto of the area of the two DIN-plugs, the 7407 and the LS244.
Do you use a new AVR or a used one? Is it possible that a used one was so programmed that it needs an external crystal or clock?

Hi!
It was new IEC-ATA V2 kit. I soldered it, and at first test it was too hot. But boys from dienstagstreff.de wrote to me that I can send it to them to test / repair and flash.
So, I will know next days what happens...Miro

Hi!
I have little problem...
I have at home new IEC-ATA V2 (repaired by men of Dienstagstreff.de). I connect it to the C128DCR, connect hard disk, connect harddisk and IEC-ATA V2 power supply (Power Over IEC isn't possible on C128DCR). Then I tried LOAD"$",14...
Typical message: DEVICE NOT PRESENT...
I tried other jumper configuration and device was found. I turn off computer and later turn on. I tried to access IEC-ATA V2 with no change of jumpers again, but message:
DEVICE NOT PRESENT...
I tried to change jumpers and after any combinations device was found again. It seems like it's RANDOMLY?!?!
When I tried to SAVE to IEC-ATA V2 it works not - only red diode blinks.
My current (last working) jumper config is: RESET jumper:OUT/BUS POWER jumper:OUT/JC jumper:set to 1-2
What to do that it will work correctly? Thanks for every reply!

Hi!
I want to ask also to change device number of IEC-ATA V2.
Default is #14. Is possible to change it?Thanks for every reply.
-
1. LOAD "C-NLQ-CAL&CON"
2. Answer the questions (probably P, Y, N)
3. When in the menu choose "E"
4. Choose "N" for all options until you come to "emulated device entry number 0"
5. Press "Y", then press "E"
6. Now enter the device number that you want (probably 8 or 9)
7. Press "N" for all other options
8. Press "C" at the endVoila...

It's detailed as the last point in section 3. -

What was wrong with the hardware?
The jumpers are for flashing of a new firmware only, not for the device-(number)-configuration. Your 'working' jumper-configuration is ok.
Do you use the original-firmware or the NLQHD-firmware which you received from me two weeks ago? If you use the NLQHD-firmware then start C-NLQ-CAL&CON. It finds your device (usually devicenumber 30 if the EEPROM is not yet configured). Try to translate Bedienungsanleitung für NQL-HD V0.15 Firmware. -
Hi!
Yes, I have the firmware. But boys from Dienstagstreff.de burn there their standard version.
My config is:
IEC-ATA V2 connected to Serial port, IDE-cable and power from floppy cable of PSU
HDD connected to PSU, jumper settings: BUS POWER: OUT/RESET: OUT/JC:1-2 set
Both diodes are lighting, but device is mostly not found.
Don't know really problem...Have I re-burn your NLQ firmware? Changing from standard?
Thanks for reply.

Okay, what?
Do you have flashed the IEC2ATA with the Dienstagstreffsoftware or did you flash it with the NLQ software?
Which software is currently flashed into the IEC2ATA?It's really tough to answer your questions this way...
-
Hi!
I have there flashed Dienstagstreffsoftware.
Miro.
-
this software doesnt workl on #14 i think!
just flash the NLQ software, like the description says and run the callibration
-
I'll do it tomorrow and will report.
Really thanks 'cuase I don't know if it's HW problem - boys from Dienstagstreff.de tested it (they also repaired broken chips).
All good.

Hi!
So, I tried to flash NLQ software, but the same message shows again and again:
AVR ... wrong bytes... retry (y/n)...So, flashing NLQ firmware is not possible.
Jumper config was: RESET:set/BUS POWER:OUT/JC:2-3 set
IDE-cable was disconnected and POWER for IEC-ATA was connected. So, I don't understand how is possible that sometimes is device found and sometimes not.
Boys from Dienstagstreff.de repaired and flash it with their software, I'm trusting them, so I ask what can be wrong?
'Think they know what they do, this is 'cause I don't understand...Miro

I'm shure that the hardware is repaired correctly.
JC2-3 is correct.
JR mustn't be closed all the time. First open/remove JR. Then start the flasher and load the .bin-file. Only when the flasher says 'close JR' really close it, not earlier.
I think that the Dienstagstreff-man tested your hardware. It's strange that it worked there, but that you cannot acces it with devicenumber 14. Perhaps there is a problem at your C128? Do you have a different C64/C128, or a friend having one, for testing?
Try the attached flasher. It displays the bytes it received from the AVR. Then tell us these values. -
OK, I try it again.
But problem is to test it on other Commodore. Here in Slovakia I have not near friends users of Commodore. Most friends are from Czech Rep., Germany and Poland...If helps info - my computer is Commodore 128DCR (German model).
Thanks else again.

...thanks, yes, I read it.
But I want to change IEC-ATA V2 devicenumber without any program, also "check" current device number...
It I want to do in assembler, but don't know how without NLQ firmware...Miro
-
you cant change the device number without flashing!

But I want to change IEC-ATA V2 devicenumber without any program, also "check" current device number...
Well, then you should have said so in your post
Like jackdaniels said: Changing the device number is not possible without using the NLQ calibration and configuration tool. -
Hi!
Is possible without any software check which drive is IEC-ATA V2?
Thanks.
Miro
-
yes... just try!
try:
load"$",8
load"$",9
load"$",10
load"$",11till 20 or 30
