  • If there is still the possibility for backers to "book later", then someone will surely be able to order a case for you. Or is that just not what you want _dedicated_? There don't seem to be many other ways to get a case like this at the moment.

So, everything is supposed to be "resolved" now... but the "solution" cost me an extra 10AUD!!! And a new email (as described in Update Bitte melde dich an, um diesen Link zu sehen.) didn't arrive either, but I was able to register via the first Pledgebox email and (almost) everything was summarized there...

I had 1x1 EB case set and 2x1 EB case set, so 3x134 AUD, which had already been debited. In Pledgebox I now only had 2x EB sets for 2x134AUD. Yes, I was able to add a third case again, but for a different price (143AUD). OK, the 6€ doesn't really bother me, but it's a bit rubbish...

Everyone should take a close look at what is now listed in the PledgeBox, especially if you have made several "purchases" on Indigogo before. I suddenly had a "credit" of ~60AUD, and it was only with the third case that the remaining amount matched the postage of ~97AUD.

Hopefully the rest runs more smoothly...;)

sac : I've now gone through the S-ID... that's the 2FA authentication of the credit card, a security feature of the card provider. This 2FA/MFA is becoming more and more common now... also with other services or websites. Sooner or later you won't be able to avoid it (or you'll have to change provider).

    Hi Darkvision,

Even though you may have backed an earlybird case for $133AUD and adding that same case in PledgeBox will now cost $143, the early bird discount is still applied you your order. Let me explain how.

When your second order was credited, you had $144AUD added in credit. This means that you can add the same case set back for no extra cost because your order was not credited the amount paid, but rather the amount it cost to add that same case back in to your order.

Another way of looking at it is this. What was the total postage cost that you paid on 3 cases on PledgeBox? What should the postage cost have been on 3 cases according to the rate sheet shown on the campaign update? If these 2 figures are the same, then the earlybird discount was still applied to all 3 cases. So in summary, $10aud or 6 Euro extra was not charged.

Hope that helps to clarify but if you still are not sure, please feel free to send a message to support@retrofuzion.com and we can go over your particular order details there.

Production is currently underway for all accessories and the first Crystal case sets!

As mentioned in the previous update, we still have a significant number of backers yet to fill surveys, or even open the email containing the survey link for that matter. As of September 21, all surveys are officially closed so for all backers yet to fill in delivery address details or make colour selections, you will need to reach out to us directly at Bitte melde dich an, um diesen Link zu sehen. so that we can take your selections.

At the time of the survey being closed, 14% of backers have not filled in survey details. While this poses a challenge for production in attempting to estimate what colour combinations may be selected and adjusting the production volume accordingly, noone will miss out, even those who did not fill the survey.

We have added to production in all colours, so that we have surplus case sets on hand for those backers.

    Current Production

Screw Sets - All cases will come with a complete screw set to mount the keyboard, mainboard, sidebracket and to secure the 2 halves of the case together. All screws will be anodized black coming pre-packaged in bagged sets.

The screw sets are currently in production with 4 different types of screws to be produced. 3 out of those 4 screw types are currently complete. Once the 4th screw type is produced, all screws will be bagged with the correct number for each case set. Production is estimated to be completed by October 15.

Example of the finished look of the case screw sets

Boxes - Production on all shipping boxes in now officially complete. Each shipping box will contain a foam insert to protect your new Breadbin case in transit as well as a smaller box to house case screws, LED, badges, serial number label and case feet. These are expected to be forwarded to injection molding partner over the next week.

Crystal Sidebrackets - All crystal sidebrackets are currently in production with an estimated completion date of October 10. Upon completion, these will be forwarded to our production partner responsible for producing the Aluminum sidebrackets so that we can have all text legends screenprinted together, ensuring consistency accross the coloured and crystal varients.

Aluminum Sidebrackets - Production is currently underway for all Aluminum sidebrackets. We have an estimated completion date of October 14 and so we will be aiming to have Crystal sidebrackets arrive on or before this date so that screenprinting for all can be completed together.

LED Sets - All LED sets are currently in production. The completion date for the LED sets is estimated to be October 18 - October 20. The small black grommet/mount for the LEDs are completed and are on their way to us.

Case Feet - Production is complete on all case feet sets. These will come pre-cut with 3M adhesive backing & prepackaged in sets of 4 for each case set. For backers with a crystal case set, there will be a set of 4 clear case feet and a set of 4 black case feet so that you have the flexibility of selecting whichever you prefer to fit to your new breadbin case. All coloured case sets will feature just the set of 4 black case feet.

Serial Number Labels - The first 1000 serial number labels were completed prior to the closing of the campaign. We will require some extras to account for the additional cases to be produced for backers who did not fill the survey as well as for the limited number of case sets we will have in store once backers cases are shipped out. Additional labels should be completed by mid October.

Case Badges - Numbers have been finalized and sent through for production of the Breadbin case badge sets. As seen in previous updates, we have received and checked samples in black. We are awaiting the design files for the other colours so that we can get a feel for whether there is enough contrast between the background colour and the coloured bar section, particularly on the red, blue and green colours. If there is not sufficient contrast, creating the background colour several shades darker will achieve enough difference in colour while still looking great so this is an option that may need to be considered.

Unfortunately, due to the manufacture process, we cannot have just a single badge produced in each colour. The case badges are formed in large sheets and for every colour change, the machine must be stripped down, have its ink wells cleaned and manually reconfigured for the new background colour. We will need to excercise our best judgement based on design images to determine whether the background and colour bars are distinct enough before moving into production. Worst case scenario is that we get it wrong, colours are too close and we simply need to remake the badges in colours that do not work out as we hope.

We do not have a steadfast completion date for the case badges at this stage but estimated completion date is around the end of October to the beginning of November. In the event we have all else completed and we are awaiting badge sets to be finished, we will have the case sets sent out as planned and organise air freight for the badge sets.

Since the first samples were produced, the colours of the colour bar have been tweaked slightly to be less vibrant and closer to the original.

    Foam inserts -
Each box comes complete with a foam insert to pad and protect your new Breadbin case in transit. We have confirmed the foam material and design with the manufacturer and have our first samples. I am in talks with the manufacturer today (29 September) to confirm the completion date and organise these to be sent to our injection moulding partner.

Case sets - Crystal case production is currently underway with an estimated completion date of October 7. Since the last round of samples were produced, we have been working with our injection molding partner to make some small refinements to the moulds. Being as fastidious as is practical, there were some small marks that we did our best to eliminate and reduce as well as reducing the visibility of what is known as vortices (visible material flow) around the corners of the bottom of the case. Some changes were made to the way in which the material is injected into the mould as well as adjustments to injection speed and pressure to eliminate and minimise these vortices. After the small tweaks to the mold, a new round of polishing was undertaken which appears to have given the cases an even higher degree of transparency.

Once the Crystal case run is complete (estimated date October 7), we will begin adding textures to the mould for the coloured case production. This process is suggested to take 7 - 10 days. Once Crystal case production is complete, and while textures are being added to the mould, we will have all materials organised for the coloured case production. Our materials supplier has offered around a 5 day turnaround time on the materials, so ideally, we will have all materials for the coloured case production with our injection moulding partner before work is complete on adding the textures.

After the crystal cases are produced, and textures added, we will be moving full steam ahead with the coloured case production. Next up will be the Azure, Neon Green, Byte White, Retro Red and Ultra Violet.

After this, Breadbin Brown, Breadbin Grey, 64C Beige, SX Silver & Plus/4 Black.

We are pushing to have all production complete by the end of October, have the cases packaged up and on their way to us in November, so that all cases can be on their final journey to backers in early December. Provided all goes to plan, this is very achievable.

    Current Concerns

When we had initially entered into negotiations with all of our production partners, we had offered conservative and realistic production numbers based on our campaign goal and the number of colours we had on offer. It seems that something was lost in that communication because the figure of 500 cases (the campaign goal) and 500 accessories (LED, case badge sets, sidebrackets, etc.) was interpreted in multiple instances as meaning 500 of each colour or an MOQ of 500 for each variant.

For the crystal cases, we are sitting at near enough to 500. For all other colours, we are far, far below that number with byte white for example having just 25 case sets and 64C beige just 17 case sets. I did not anticipate this being a problem as we had a lot of fixed costs in our production agreement which i believed covered any quantity of production, even at very low production numbers.

In a nutshell, costs have gone up for production and have gone up significantly. We have locked in the new costs for production, paid the extra and the show goes on.

The real issue that we have which may blow out the costs even further and could potentially cause delays is that our critical colours, the heritage colours, (Breadbin Brown, Breadbin Gray, 64C Beige, Plus/4 Black & SX Silver) are not what we are looking for when production commences. Im confindent, but im not absolutely certain until production begins so this is something I want for us all to understand.

While we have done all that we can to ensure that this is not going to be a problem, I have high confidence we have everything as close as is practical, if we do produce a colour only to decide it is not right, we will be back to the drawing board in trying to formulate a closer blend on that colour.

Stay tuned, we will have more updates posted as we move on to the coloured case production run.......

  • Kubi1230

    Habe gerade Deinen Post gesehen.
