It might be that you have the HDMI problem. The HDMI port on the Mega65 has a design issue where it does not function correctly with some monitors. I have this problem with my Samsung monitor and can not use HDMI, I have to revert to VGA.

I did try with PAL and NTSC. Whereas PAL flickers, NTSC is crisp and clear.

1. If you have trouble with display on digital monitors, try disabling the HDMI-style audio in the MEGA65, and see if it solves it. If you still have problems, let me know.
2. Funny fat and thin pixels is a symptom of the monitor up-scaling from 720x576 badly.
3. A goodly fraction of monitors don't like 50Hz 720x576 and will have problems. These will typically work fine in NTSC 60Hz mode. Best to find a monitor that likes 50Hz, as a lot of software is PAL 50Hz.

I think my old Eizo Flexscan from 2005, can work for the Mega over VGA or maybe hdmi, with dvi adapter
Otherwise an old TFT TV will work properly
Hi. I just received my Mega65, thanks a lot to all people involved!
Unfortunately I have bad screen flickering which makes the system unusable. I have a pricey 27" NEC display that I do not want to swap from my desk.
Switching to NTSC did not help, DVI mode (without audio) did not help and switching the HDMI cable did not work.
Any other possible solution?!?

But the weirdest thing is that on my Benq BL912 the 50 Hz mode works pixel perfect but the common 60 Hz results in a black screen! Exact the opposite you would expect. Connected it via a HDMI-to-DVI cable. My MiSTer is using the same cable and it displays every resolution just fine, 50 and 60 Hz.

First step is to check if it works ok on any monitor. Does it work on your NEC? If it doesn't work on any, then we can start to suspect a hardware problem, rather than it being an HDMI problem.

Despite this it would be interesting if further HDMI signal tweaking is possible in future. Maybe a wider range of monitors would be compatible.
Please note to use the latest SD Essentials, which are NOT automatically installed with formatting a new SD card within the MEGA65, and need to be updated (renamed, copied, removed) on the SD card as well. Same goes to the latest ROM and to the latest Freezer file, to be found separately on the filehost.

Dear Paul,
HDMI output keeps flickering on BOTH tested monitors. I tried NTSC/PAL/DVI and different cables on both monitors. VGA gives a stable output. Now that i have stable video on VGA I discovered, that the
machine keeps reseting after a couple of minutes, no matter if idle in basic, in a menu or a program. It then autoboots the preselected disk.
Does anyone have an idea?

So just tested the third monitor, an old 4:3 LCD. Has a slightly more stable output on HDMI, flickers only once in a minute or so. But here, no menus are displayed in HDMI (config menu, freezer menu, flash menu).
But the next problem is, the machine keeps performing resets every one or two minutes, no matter if idle in basic or in menu or whatever. Who can help? I cannot reflash it, since it resets every other minute, or I can not see the menu screens :((

You can force the system to use the factory core in slot 0 with factory ROM 287.
If it‘s stable then, you should have no hardware issue.
If you use the latest ROM 349, you have to use also the latest FPGA core.
Will not help, because I ONLY use the factory built-in core. I am not able to perform a flashing,
because the computer likes to perform a reset every other minute. I think I will have to return it.
