  • Two days ago, while surfing the net, I happened to come across a guy who ported the ZX Spectrum Next core to the Nexys A7 100T board in a very first version.

I'm in contact with him since then and I'm also testing the core here on my Nexys board. Except for a few "very minor problems", it really works quite well already.

I have already tried a first NextBASIC test program, it works quite well. :)

Using the Next also CP/M 3.0 works.

All in all, the Nexys board now can run the ZX Spectrum Next core in addition to the MEGA65 core. So you have two new "8bit computers" in one. :)

Here are a few photos I just took from my Nexys board running the current Next core:

  • I played around with the Spectrum Next core a bit again today. It's really nice to see how well it works already. :)

The Spectrum Next also comes with a few preinstalled other cores:

That means that you also have the ZX80, ZX81, Spectrum 48k and the Spectrum 128k "for free". As an "old" Sinclair user (I learned BASIC on the ZX80, then the ZX81 and later the Spectrum), this is a lot of fun. :)

  • Just a little reminder: A very feature complete and great Spectrum+ (ZX Uno) Core for the MEGA65 is available at Please login to see this link. :)

Now we need just someone to port the CPC core for the MEGA65. But I guess demand for the Schneider CPC ist just neglectable. :weg:

    :juhu:

The more, the better. I'd say. ;) I always wanted to give the CPC a try anyway. :)

  • I'd definitely like to see that aswell :)

Don't forget if those are real separated cores on the Next (not just config changes and using the same core - honestly I don't know ...) then those must be separate cores on MEGA65 as well ... (as they are those on Next too, just they have different core selector screen than MEGA65 has).
