A while back, there were suggestions that those of us who bought the DevKit might be able to buy the final production machine at a discount, or possibly even get just the case (without motherboard and floppy drive) so as to transplant our DevKit boards into final production cases.
My position is that I want a production machine (very much!), but I don't currently have room to set it up… and my DevKit works fine. So I'm not actually planning to order a production machine just yet, though I'll certainly want one eventually. I'd rather keep my DevKit as it is, and own a separate production machine – so the idea of transplanting the board into a production case isn't for me personally. (I ask about that simply because I recall seeing the possibility raised, so an answer would be interesting.)
However, having already spent a lot of money on the DevKit, and not actually needing a second MEGA65, the production machine looks quite expensive from my perspective, and I really would appreciate the ability to buy one at some kind of discount. Is that likely to be possible?
At the same time, I don't want to miss my chance. Is it a certainty that machines will continue to be produced for the foreseeable future, once the initial batch is sold out? I'd rather wait and buy later, once I've made room to accommodate another machine. But if there's a chance that waiting means that I might miss the opportunity to get a production machine, then I guess I'll place an order now…
