Wizard of War in modern - gefällt mir.
Bin mal gespannt.

First we wanted to have a dark maze, where light is shed only where the players and the bullets are (similar to the game Tenebra Macabre, mentioned above) Black enemy sprites would be invisible this way
Es wird wohl ein Cart Release werden
We wanted to release on SD card (SD2IEC/JiffyDOS version) & cartridge as a full retail, boxed product and possibly a download version (cheaper, for emulator / drive emulator users), but after running a poll on Twitter and FB it seems that a disk version would be nice too. To tell the truth, the game is running at the moment on all exotic hardware we could find, so there is no real obstacle to release on more media. What would be your choice?

I think you slightly misunderstood his question: what he wanted to say is that it would look nicer with overlay sprites.
This idea with the dark maze is nice, though - did you drop the plan completely, or will it be a feature in one of the levels? (And actually having sometimes invisible enemies could be a nice challenge ;-))

The game was designed for a game jam in the beginning, that means, the first prototype was done in a weekend. We didn't use sprite multiplexing in the playfield and we still are doing without. If you check a recent video capture, that might sound funny, as the whole screen is "moving". This is done using animated tiles, actually software sprites, as background uses multicolor graphics mode. After all, the base of the game was like: 2 players, 2 bullets, 4 enemies. Not much room for HOM sprites. It MIGHT change in the future, but I believe, the gameplay is going to compensate without multiplexed sprite orgy (In case you need lots of sprites, we did this too: https://csdb.dk/release/?id=198517)
We don't plan 4 players mode at the moment, but you can beat your buddies in the online high score that is visible for anyone at wor2one.com (game generates QR codes on the fly, you can upload your score with your phone easily)
I have sent a recent build to JackTRip for testing. He didn't mention that Protovision had plans for another WoW-like game. Is there any info available of that game?

It was Big User - but project sounds long dead... I remember thinking about creating some sprites as well, glad that I didn't, would have been wasted effort.
