Over the past few days I've been sifting through some data archives that I've accumulated over the past few years. I downloaded most of it and then put it somewhere on the harddisc and it gets dusty. :whistling:

Last weekend, while rummaging through an archive of C64 disc images, I found three disc images with files about the C65. Strangely, these are D64 files, although the C65 has the 3.5 inch drive and I would have expected D81 images.

These are SFX files that I could open with the Bitte melde dich an, um diesen Link zu sehen. program and could display them as D64 images. Saved as D64 files, I can also open them in VICE.

Unfortunately I can't find out anything about the origin of the disks. As far as I can remember, I had the archive years ago from an FTP server in Bulgaria or Romania. I can find two of the disks ("C64.SFX" and "C65-FAQ2.SFX") from other sources with the help of Google. Unfortunately I can't find a third disc image anywhere.

A file on the is damaged and probably incomplete. Before I deal with it in more detail, I simply ask everyone whether someone might store this disc image on his harddisc or even have the corresponding floppy disc in an old disc box? Maybe on it all files can be read without any problems?

I am concerned with the file "65r6dmp3.seq" on the disc image in the file "C65-JAR.SFX". It would be great if someone here had this image on his harddisc and can take a look at it.

Yes, I can. I assume that those files are a sort of binaries. Please attach a .zip of these disks (.d64 /.sfx etc here) and I will have a closer look at it, extract and even repair them, if possible.

    BTW ... here's a C65-FAQ2 as a .txt file ... seems to be downloaded from a BBS.

That's what I think too. The problem is that this one file is corrupted.

Thanks, I can take a look at it for myself, if it's necessary. I just ask if someone have the 100% disc image, so there is no need for a closer look. Makes life easier and so ... ;)

  • I usually post every snippet of the C65 when I dig one up. In this case I beg for patient. I would like to check a few things first.

For now, my concern is to inquire if anyone happens to have another copy of this disc image? Then we could compare whether this also has the same defect or is complete.

  • Hi Snoopy ,

i started browsing through my archives as well, but haven't found the image yet...

Take your time analysing, if you stuck, or the file won't be found, Parser can help you, he is able to recover lost/corrupted data.

He was so kind and gave me a copy of his C65 archive, which i am browsing through as well atm.

(It's funny, after a while you know most documents already, when you just browse through the directory).

But very interesting find Snoopy ! It's amazing what you find and dig out throughout the web always, C65 related and more ! Thanks alot !

Which sector is affected and causes an error?

Could you please post an image of the affected sector?

You can now find some description and the SFX file in the folder attached to Bitte melde dich an, um diesen Link zu sehen..

  • I melted the files with an old LHA version (which can handle .sfx as well) and patched the missing bytes from Dump File 3 ... what can I say ... it is working nicely. I assume that the missing code hasn't been altered and so we can speak of a valid 911210 V0.9B ROM version.
