Number 236 up and running. These are my impressions so far:

Fast courier delivery with tracking. Packaging was great, neatly arranged, everything protected and nothing missing which must be a lot of work. Thanks !

The assembly went very well, with no issues. Even a TORX screwer head was included. I broke some plexiglas parts but I was also able to fix them with cyanoacrylate glue.

Excellent quality keyboard. The small programmer board and the USB cable looks like a very convenient add-in for a development machine.

It was great to receive the SD card with all software pre-installed. Just plug and play, thanks !

When the computer boots, I love to hear the disk initialization noise :)

Video output looks very good with a crisp image and vibrant colours.

And now it is the time to enjoy the manual and learn.

  • Plexiglass is anyway very strange material I have not even a single thing which is not broken (at least once, somewhere ...), have some plexi parts and had to assemble myself :-O But at the other hand it's fancy because of being clear transparent ;)

I am a little surprised that almost everyone who reports here has a part of the case broken or damaged. Plexilaser has a lot of experience with such cases and for a price of 999 EUR for the Devkit I would have expected more stable material here. :/

Apart from that, I wish every owner of a devkit a lot of fun with this great work of the Mega team!

  • I would say this material in general is very sensitive, I always brake it somehow, and I don't talk about the devkit here (since I haven't ordered), but in general about this material. For example, screwing something too tightly is a great way to crack it. But this was just one example about fasten screws too tightly, maybe that even does not apply to the devkit.

  • @Carlos64 ,

Hi and thanks for the feedback. We are so happy, that you like the machine as much as we do.

Thanks for fixing the broken parts ! we are surprised as well, that during the assembly so many small parts of the case break.

We are not sure if the material is to thin, since we didn't had any problems during the assembly, only during the postage.

Once the case is assembled it is very sturdy, but it seems now, that the assembly is tricky.

  • Actually my inbuild disc drive does not work. I will check the data cable first.

  • wins4 :

Does it make noises, when powering the MEGA65 on ? or when loading something from SD ?

Did you change in MEGA65 Configure (holding ALT while powering on and pressing 1) from SD to internal drive ?

(You can have (atm) only one. either internal SD or internal Floppy drive)

I press 1 and get only a black screen with a white line.

2 Format Utility and 3 Keyboard Test is okay.

I have this time no battery on the board. I this maybe the problem?

  • The internal (or an prepared external card) needs to be inserted when going to configure, since one partition on the SDcard is to save those settings, etc...

Thank you a lot. Martin from Trenz phoned me up this morning. He said, it a matter of the bitstream. It's not Github issues. By the way, I will try out your way.

    Greetings,

    Achim

  • Yes, we tested this yesterday and Paul is already on it to write a small Hickup file, when copied to the SD card will solve the problem

until we release a new bitstream. so solution is on the way.
