  • Does anyone know where I can obtain a datasheet for a R/W hybrid C 251853-01 / 251853-02

    or H36A2U57

These are used in 1571 and 1541 (pcb 250448).

  • I doubt you'll find one.

These were custom ICs only used in these drives manufactured especially for C=, unlike the R/W-Amps in the 1541-II and 1571CR.

But you'll get an idea of the schematics looking at the schematics of the old drives (longboard).

  • I think the best you can get is the 1571 service manual, which describes it partially (pp. 4-8).
Cf, for example, Bitte melde dich an, um diesen Link zu sehen. or Bitte melde dich an, um diesen Link zu sehen..

  • Can't edit anymore  ... have to post again.

No, the 1541B/1571 has got three of them, IIRC:

    • a 40/42-pin MOS 251828-01/02/03 Gate Array, which was introduced in the 1541A and replaces a lot of the TTL technology but not the analogue part. This one is used in the 1541A/B/C, the 1541-II, the 1551(IIRC), the 1571 and the 1571CR in the C128DCR.
    • A 20-pin Gate Array which does some address decoding and motor control (IIRC) and was replaced by a 74LS42 (address decoding) and a ULN2003 (motor control part) in the 1541-II and by the 5710 in the 1571CR.
    • The R/W-Hybrid MOS 251853_01/02 (analogue part), which replaces what was built up discrete in the 1541 and 1541A. This one is present in the 1541B/C, the 1551 and the 1571 but was replaced by the Sony CX20185 integrated R/W-Amp in the 1541-II and the 1571CR.

All of them have different MOS part numbers.

  • Additional information:

See the schematics of the 1541B at Bitte melde dich an, um diesen Link zu sehen.

    Detail showing the three ICs:

Bitte melde dich an, um diesen Anhang zu sehen.

The schematic of the 1541A is found here: Bitte melde dich an, um diesen Link zu sehen.

It shows the discretely built up analogue part:

So this is what roughly should be inside the Hybrid IC. ^^

  • Thanks

The h36a2u57 would be an equivalent of 251853-01

I noticed this shop has h36a2u57 has it listed for as a vcr hybrid ic.

  • Maybe the data of this shop is incorrect! The part is listed as AKAI but it is built by Matsushita/Panasonic!

As long as it's the one shown in the picture... :nixwiss:

  • The h36a2u57 would be an equivalent of 251853-01

The H36A2U57 is the equivalent of the 251853-02

the H36A2U57D is the equivalent of the 251853-01

@Bitte melde dich an, um diesen Link zu sehen.: Why do you need the datasheet? What exactly do you want to know?

  • @Bitte melde dich an, um diesen Link zu sehen.

I would like to know how it actually functions / works.

I have already asked Panasonic but, they do not have the datasheet, as it maybe obsolete, going by their reply.

  • FWIW ...

The h36a2u57 would be an equivalent of 251853-01

I've got a 1571-Board on my workbench with a H36A2U57 on board. Since the 1571 uses a 251853-01 they seem to be equivalent, yes.

The H36A2U57 is the equivalent of the 251853-02

the H36A2U57D is the equivalent of the 251853-01

Where did you find this information?

Any info on interchanging -01 and -02?

  • Any info on interchanging -01 and -02?

OK, found it in the "Tech Topics" here Bitte melde dich an, um diesen Link zu sehen.

Interchangeable, -02 need two resistors and four diodes more.

    I've got a 1571-Board on my workbench with a H36A2U57 on board.

This one is pretty sure a -01, looks different from a spare -02 I've got here.

  • Can you take pictures, pls? I am interested in how it looks like, thx.

Btw, when you change -02 with -01 you don't need to remove the parts that are needed for -02. The unit works fine when you let the parts inside.

  • I'll take some pics tonight.

The spare -02 is single sided and labelled "251853-02".

The two soldered H36A2U57 are labelled "H36A2U57" (sic!) without "D" and have no resistors at pins 9/10, so I strongly guess they are -01s. But the look different from each other, too... however they are double sided.

    • Top: H36A2U57, desoldered from a 1571; lacking resistors, so should be a 251853-01?
    • Middle: 251853-01, desoldered from a 1551, lacking resistors, obviously a 251853-01.
    • Bottom: 251853-02, desoldered from ???, obviously a 251853-02. .-)

Funny: middle and bottom item show virtually no difference, both single-sided, components on rear side seem exactly the same.
