I tested yesterday with a self-compiled experimental Sidekick64 kernel based on 0.48 and I could play both HIRO and Instinct instrument-complete (with minor sound glitches).

These settings should work for both HIRO and Instinct. Does Instinct crash also if you've not activated the sound emulation (F3)? (btw. 47b doesn't have MIDI support)
Instinct does not crash. It works properly without sound. When i active emulation (F3) i get black screen ( no logo ate bit )
-
I can only guess... does the C64 have any modifications (kernal etc)?
-
The C64 has not any modifications. I have tested only with shortboards. I have not any optional 10pF capacitors on my PCB.

if you disable the SFX emulation and keep "register read off", what does it do then?

I disable SFX emulation ( F5 - settings, "SFX Sound Exp - off" and keep "register read off" )
1. ate - Instinct runs like same, I set 0 for MIDI and 0 for SID delay on startup screen and start demo, I get black screen and nothing happens.
2. Hiro - runs, I get startup screen and info that no detect FM-YAM (NONE), I can swap Midi ( status OK and NONE ). Demo does not run. I get info about it.
Sid emulation works properly - I have usic from game or sid music files.
I tested on old breadbin machine (long board). Demos run like same with one exception. Hiro did not detect MIDI ( both NONE for Datel and Sequential ), but I could set those option manualy.

with these settings the Sidekick only listens to the bus but does not do any writes or anything that could crash the C64 (as long as the HW is ok).
Demo does not run. I get info abou
what does not run mean? does it crash or can't you hear MIDI sounds?
just to be sure: have you placed sound font files into SD:/MIDI ?

Ohhhh. Of coz that have not.
I have not found info about it on github page.
Now playing all great !!!!
Thank you so much.
I have another question.
I have RGB-TFT display and I can't see logo in tga format. ( I get SideKick64 logo after run CRT image) . I have placed tga file example I have pop.crt ( EasyFlash image in SD:\CRT ) and I have placed pop.tga ( copy alpharay.tga from SD:/CART264 ) . I have seen logo on oled when I have placed pop.logo ( copy alpharay.logo ).

in principle it searches for pop.tga (in your case) in the same directory, so this sounds good if I understood you correctly. Note .logo is a 128x64 raw b/w image for the OLED screen, not the RGB-TFT. So which display do you have?

I have got both displays.
RGB-TFT - works fine i can run and display tga files on EasyFlash, Action Replay, Final III images ( tga files in SD:/SPLASH )
but when I have placed pop.tga ( it is a copy alpharelay.tga from SD:/CART264 ) and pop.crt ( Prince of Persia CRT image ) i watch only logo SideKick64 on screen.
Yes .logo on the OLED works well. ( only i dont know how create raw file 128x64 )

-
Was heißt "drin"?
-
-
